The Victoria Book Prize Society administers two $5,000 prizes for books written by authors living in Victoria Capital Regional District. Founded in 2004, The City of Victoria Butler Book Prize is a public/private partnership funded by the City of Victoria, and Brian H. Butler of Butler Brothers Supplies Ltd. The Bolen Books Children’s Book Prize is funded by Bolen Books. Both of these prizes enjoy the support of the Union Club, The Magnolia Hotel and the Greater Victoria Public Library.

Bolen Short List

It was a tough race; Mechanimals competed with books by two of Canada’s finest writers for children; The Corps of the Bare-Boned Plane (Groundwood Books) by Polly Horvath and A Perfect Gentle Knight (Penguin Books) by Kit Pearson.
